Before my eyes swell shut

Well I was planning on working on one of my tractors this morning while it was cool. Things change, especially for me, when a wasp stings me next to my eye. I went by Mama's, got me a few benadryl pills and went to the house. So now I'll stay cool and hope the swelling dosen't do like it usually does and close my right eye on the way to close the left.

So I decided to write a little before my eyes swell shut.

Theresa traded in her beloved Honda Shadow yesterday. I thought she going to cry. She had ridden it over 48,000 miles and had fond memories of places and things she had seen while riding the black chromed out bike, her very first one.

She had bought the Shadow about the same time I bought my Harley in May of 2004. She is a friend of my cousin Janet. Janet told her to call me if she wanted to have someone to ride motorcycles with. So at the end of Dec. that year she called and we went riding. I would surmise that I have ridden at least half of those 48,000 miles with her. We have been over most of MS and parts of AR, LA, AL, TN, NC, VA, KY,WV, GA, FL, she on her Honda and I on my Harley.

But now a New Odometer will be clicking off the miles for her. She bought a new Yamaha Roadstar Silverado 1700. It is a good looking bike. Silver and Blue color with a 102hp engine and saddlebags. I guess Joe and I will have to watch what we say to her about this bike since it has a bigger engine than our Harleys.

I rode over to Greenville to meet her at the dealership and go with her on the inaugural first ride. We rode over to Killbourne, La to get powerball numbers and back. When we were at Killbourne I ask Theresa if she had gotten her bells off her old bike, she had not, so we stopped by the dealership to retreive them. You have to have those bells on the bike to keep the Road Gremlins from causing trouble to your motorcycle while riding the highways.

I think if it rains Thursday we'll make a trip to Mena, Ar and ride the Taimena Scenic Drive over into Oklahoma. That would be a good 3-days-away-from-everything-trip and give Theresa a good feel of the bike in the mountains.

Well I guess thats all for now, I have been instructed to get an ice pack to put on the wasp sting to hold down swelling.

Till later.

Hey! You BETTER take care of yourself and that eye!! You KNOW how you USUALLY swell from those wasp stings. Keep cool and let me know if you need anything!!

Joe is READY to head out. He says that maybe we could leave out Friday and head back home on Monday. I told him maybe Friday-come back Sunday afternoon. You know him- it's been such a loooong time since he took a road trip-he's ready to RIDE!!!

We called Mike Sudduth to see if maybe he/Carolyn might go. He said that he got 3 - yes, 3 inches of rain last week- but that they are starting back to pump this week. He said that he'll let us know.

I sent Cathy Youngblood an e-mail to see if maybe MIke may be caught up with the flying and if they might be able to go. Haven't heard anything yet. May see if Joe will give Mike a call at the Strip.

This was a GREAT post. You and Theresa have made LOTS of wonderful memories while riding those bikes all those many, many miles. I'm glad that she went on and "broke down" and bought her a new one. She'll love it. I'm glad that y'all were able to take the "Maiden Voyage" together!! (hey, maybe this "Maiden Voyage" with this NEW bike is the "good luck charm" that will help y'all WIN the Lotto!!!HA!) Yep, you and Joe better "cool it" with her!! I hope she got her "trunk" on the back of this new one. She told me that she was getting some new handlebars for it-and would like to get them b/f we go on a trip - hopefully she'll get them Thursday and we'll strike out Friday!!!

I'll call to ck. on you later
love you muches!
